Headmistress

Miss Jenny Petridou has been teaching for over 26 years in both Greece and the U.K. She is a qualified teacher for GCSE and A Level, and has a particular interest in leading the curriculum for both Latin and Greek as part of her full time job. She is also a respected Examiner, and is recognised for her work with the major examining boards of the U.K, including Edexcel for modern Greek, and OCR for Latin and ancient Greek.

A phrase that defined my life both as a student and as an educator. Knowledge is a journey full of adventure. It does not only entail the vocabulary of a language or the grammatical structure. It is not only related to the certificates that reward the journey. This is the main message conveyed to our pupils. We wish the kids and the parents to feel that being a member of our school society means much more. Besides achieving their academic goals (GCSE and A Levels) it means the pupils have the opportunity to learn about our culture and the customs (ήθη και έθιμα), they get an understanding of the variety of our dialects (κυπριακά, ποντιακά, βλάχικα). It means they enjoy being a part of our big family and are willing both to learn and contribute. George Keliris

Chairman

George is Chairman of our school, having taken on the role as Director and Trustee of the Greek School in 2023. As a parent to three children that attend the school, he accepted the voluntary role as a means to ensure our vital community asset is maintained. He is passionate about the school, and seeks to reinforce its position as one of the leading community Greek Schools in London. 

As Chairman of the school, he is responsible for ensuring the school maintains the correct governance and management so that it operates legally and ethically to fulfil its purpose in meeting the needs of our students and the wider Greek and Cypriot community.

He leads a 10 person strong committee, who are collectively responsible for the school’s overall direction, strategy, and finances, while delegating all the day to day educational aspects to our Headteacher. 

We recognise our role as guardians of the school, and look to act in its best interest, ensuring that the school offers both our existing children, and our future generations a school that they can depend and be proud of.

Vice Chairman

Chris is Vice Chairman of the school and a fellow Director and Trustee of the board that supports the Chairman and the elected committee in ensuring our school works within the governance framework set, and ensures that our school, in partnership with our Headteacher, excels in the educational programme it abides by. 

As a parent of a child at the Hellenic School of High Barnet, he has seen what a positive impact the school makes to all it's pupils across all age groups, and is particularly proud of how all our children, whether first or third generation,  are making exceptional progression in their learning of reading and writing of our Greek language. 

He is also a respected member of our community, and is particularly encouraged by how students at our community school embrace our heritage, our values and our Greek and Cypriot customs. The school has a family ethos which makes it a fantastic place to excel.
